“The European Union program is unique among study abroad programs because it takes students to different countries,” says Kirsten Peterson '16, who chose the European Union program in Freiburg, Germany, for this reason. “Three field study trips take us throughout Europe in order to see our lessons play out in real life. I love the fact that I'm learning not only about the structure of the European Union, but about Europe in general.” The lessons of diversity have permeated her academic program as well. “Not only do my courses count as credit toward my major, but I have learned an incredible amount about the world outside of Pomona and economics outside of the United States,” says Peterson. “My professors here bring a European perspective to their views on economic theories. I can't wait to get back to Pomona and discuss what I've learned.”
