Today's Supreme Court Decision on DACA

Dear Â鶹´«Ã½ Community,

Today’s U.S. Supreme Court decision blocking plans to rescind the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA) is exceptionally good news.

Dreamers contribute greatly, not only to our campus and our community, but to the entire nation. Pomona joined nearly 180 other institutions of higher education in filing an amicus brief in support of DACA for the case.

As we find celebration and relief today, we also know the struggle is far from over. While this decision blocks an immediate move to rescind DACA, in the months and years ahead, we must not only continue our work to protect DACA in a more lasting way but also press to expand its reach. We also must continue our work to support all students, including those with DACA status and those students who are undocumented.

The launch of DACA eight years ago created a huge step forward for hundreds of thousands of young people. But there are many more steps ahead on this road. In December, I was able to meet with several members of Congress to convey the importance of protecting DACA. College leadership and I will continue to press forward with this goal, building on the momentum from today’s decision.

As Sagehens, we must support one another, stand together as a community and work for true justice on this issue. Today, let’s take a moment to celebrate as we continue to work for lasting change.

Sincerely,

Gabi
