This past Fall, the EcoReps congregated virtually for the first time. Despite the obstacles that online collaboration has presented, the EcoReps have successfully upgraded our social media (follow us !) as well as launched our very own blog. We released several newsletters, featuring many original articles based on themes such as food sustainability, Earth Week shenanigans, and the intersection between sustainability and politics.
Projects blossomed in the online format. EcoRep, Diana Castellanos created Grow Getters, a seed community among 5C students. Diana sent tomato and basil seeds to students to grow at home. Grow Getters met biweekly to discuss their journeys and share growing tips. In addition, Tiffany Ho and Sara Anderson worked on a PSF project to implement “Mindful Mondays” in 鶹ý Dining Halls, a day in which the dining halls would be focusing on food sustainability and plant-based world cuisines.
All in all, this year has been very successful, and an amazing learning experience for the EcoReps. We are proud of all that we have achieved and look forward to the even greater things that we will achieve in the future.
Sara is a sophomore International Relations major at Pomona from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She is especially interested in environmental policy, the effects of climate change, and food sustainability.
