Located in Hahn 112 and 114, the Pacific Basin Institute houses its own archive of audiovisual and textual records.
The PBI archive preserves materials related to the art, culture, economics, history, and religion of the Asia/Pacific region, with a focus on the twentieth century. Founded after the production of the award-winning documentary series The Pacific Century, the PBI archive holds the series’ extensive production footage and records. The archive also maintains a suite of analog video equipment for playback of Betacam, U-Matic, and VHS formats.
The PBI archive is open to all staff and faculty of Pomona and all other Claremont Colleges. Items in the archive’s Asian Film Library are available for lending. However, most of the archive’s holdings must be consulted at PBI.
The PBI archive is currently working to promote greater access to its holdings. Finding aids will be uploaded to the as soon as they are available. Interested users should contact PBI Archivist to set up an appointment.
