Performance Art in Southern California
Glenn Phillips, Getty Research Institute
The history of postwar art in Los Angeles is punctuated by dramatic examples of large-scale spectacles, expansive performances, and small-scale interventions in the public sphere. Glenn Phillips, Co-Director of the Pacific Standard Time Performance and Public Art Festival and Co-Curator of It Happened at Pomona: Art at the Edge of Los Angeles 1969-1973, will discuss performance art in Southern California and the issues surrounding the re-presentation of performance works.
