Art After Hours at the Benton Museum of Art, Department of History at Â鶹´«Ã½ and the Hive present a 2-part event.
Join us on Tuesday, March 16th for a virtual visit to the studio of , a Southern California ceramicist inspired by the nature of his native state. Skoby’s ceramics recall his intimate dance with the ocean as a lifelong surfer, a pure form of self-expression that disappears after each wave. Finding inspiration in traditional Japanese craft and the concept of wabi sabi, Skoby’s ceramics embody an aesthetic principle where roughness, imperfections, and impermanence become the birthplace of unique beauty.
This virtual studio visit offers a window into the process of his craft of hand-thrown and carved vessels.
