Doubles showcases the creative choices of the 2024 AllPaper Seminar fellows, who dove into the collections of works on paper in the Benton Museum of Art and the Charles White Archives and emerged with pairs of works, based strictly on what caught their eyes and intellectual interests. Two artists working in the same medium, a print and a photograph of the same subject, two wildly different works that share a compositional structure—the concept of “doubling” enriches not only our understanding of individual works of art but curatorial decision-making in museums more generally.
