Claremont, CA—The Benton Museum of Art at 鶹ý will nearly double its public operating hours, from 20 hours a week to 34 hours, beginning Friday, April 15. These new hours include staying open until 10 pm every Thursday. The museum will also be moving toward a year-round instead of semester-based schedule by being open approximately 45 weeks a year; previously it had operated 30 weeks a year. Finally, the Benton will discontinue the reservation requirements put in place in 2021 in response to COVID-19.
“We have been reviewing our operating procedures for a few months, and now with the guidance of our new visitor services manager, Nilo Naraghi, we are ready to announce the results of that review,” said Victoria Sancho Lobis, Sarah Rempel and Herbert S. Rempel ’23 Director of the Benton. “We are confident that these additional hours will allow us to better serve our campus community as well as Claremont and our neighboring areas. We will offer more exhibitions, more programs, and more events, and we’re looking forward to assuming a larger role in the visual arts community of Southern California and beyond.”
