Orientation Suggested Packing List

Here is what is in your room when you arrive: 

  • Extra-long twin bed 
  • Desk and chair 
  • Dresser 
  • Waste and recycling baskets 
  • Closet/closet space 
  • Window shades and overhead lighting 

We recommend that students bring the following: 

  • Extra-long (80” x 35”) twin sheets 
  • Extra-long mattress cover 
  • Pillow 
  • Blanket 
  • Towels/washcloths/linens 
  • Toiletries (hand/body soap, shampoo) 
  • Shower shoes 

Students have found the following items to be useful: 

  • Computer 
  • Bedspread/comforter 
  • Desk lamp 
  • Shower caddy (to hold toiletries) 
  • Power strips 
  • Box or window fan 
  • Mini-fridge (LESS than 3.1 cubic feet)
  • Microwave (between 0.7 - 1.2 cubic feet)
  • Removable adhesive strips or poster putty  
    • No nails or push pins because they will damage walls
  • For NON-air-conditioned buildings (Smiley, Wig, Lyon)
    • Evaporative coolers (aka "swamp" coolers) - (150 volts/300 Watts) - one per room

You are also allowed to bring the following: 

  • Bicycle and U-style lock
  • Scooter and lock 
  • Coffee maker 
  • Video game systems

Items that are not allowed: 

  • Personal air conditioners 
  • Flushable toilet wipes (they clog and damage our residential plumbing)
  • Light coverings/ceiling hangings 
  • Hot plates 
  • Non-LED holiday lights 
  • Hammocks (anywhere on campus) 

Families may send packages to the 鶹ý Mail Room beginning on August 5, 2024.
